In the RG Kar hospital case, Sanjoy Roy, accused of raping and murdering a postgraduate trainee doctor, has been sentenced to life imprisonment and fined ₹50,000 by a CBI court. The West Bengal government was directed to pay ₹17 lakh as compensation to the victim's family, but they declined the offer.
The crime came to light on August 9, 2024, when the trainee doctor’s body was discovered in a seminar hall. Kolkata Police traced Sanjoy Roy through a Bluetooth earphone left near the crime scene. He was convicted under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rape and murder. #shorts #rgkarcase #sanjoyroy #sanjayroy #kolkatanews #indiatodayshorts
