i recently upgraded my linux gaming pc from a ryzen 3900x to a ryzen 5700x3d and wanted to see how much difference the 3d v-cache actually makes in real games. my system isn't anything crazy — rx 7800 xt, 64gb ram, and running linux on cachyos — but i noticed my gpu wasn't being fully utilized in a lot of titles. that usually means a cpu bottleneck, especially at 1080p and 1440p. so i decided to test a few of the games i play regularly and compare before vs after performance. some titles showed modest gains, others surprised me with much higher frame rates and better gpu utilization. overall the upgrade landed around a 10–15% improvement in many cases, with some standout results. if you're still on am4 and thinking about squeezing a bit more life out of your system for gaming on linux, the 5700x3d might be a very interesting option. tested games include: red dead redemption 2 arc raiders helldivers 2 the finals control system specs: ryzen 7 5700x3d rx 7800 xt 64gb ram cachyos linux if you're running a similar setup or have done a recent upgrade, let me know what you're using in the comments. #linuxgaming #am4 #pcgaming #ryzen #cachyos ▶ Previous video: https://youtu.be/mg_QLJ5T4dc ▶ Subscribe!
