David Allen, Ph.D., Vice President of Tech Launch Arizona, and Doug Hockstad, Director of Technology Transfer, speak about TLA's success.
TLA has made great strides in commercialization since November of 2013. Last September, TLA released its Annual Report and Roadmap Update. TLA is building an innovation ecosystem of individuals, groups, companies, organizations and domain experts to provide assistance and direction to help commercialize UA research.
Over the last 18 months, TLA has solidified its full team, and now has a complete system of policies and procedures in place. Along with domain experts to help determine the best commercial pathways for technologies, TLA also has a Commercialization Partners program, where Entrepreneurs-in-Residence and Executives-in-Residence help by contributing their expertise and leadership to helping faculty develop successful startups.
TLA is just hitting its stride, and has an immense amount of potential to continue to be more seamless and provide better service to UA faculty.
When comparing the past 18 months to the previous 18 months, TLA has demonstrated positive results and growth in all key areas, including invention disclosures, agreements, startups, and income.
TLA is the continuation of research; the UA is a powerhouse in research. The results of that research through TLA are conveyed into the marketplace and represents a revitalizing force for the economy.
