In this video, I take you on a DIY food tour through the bustling streets of Kolkata. My adventure begins in the New Market area, where I immediately spot a crowd gathered around a popular sugarcane juice stall. For just 20 rupees, I grab a glass—and it’s one of the best sugarcane juices I’ve ever tasted. Next, I stumble upon a vendor selling masala chai for only 5 rupees. I can’t resist, so I grab a glass and savor it right on the street. Continuing my walk, I find another vendor serving freshly squeezed orange juice for 50 rupees. It’s as refreshing as it is delicious. With my thirst quenched, I cross the street in search of food and find a man cooking up fresh dosas. For just 35 rupees, I enjoy a crispy masala dosa while chatting with some locals. Next, I hop into a classic yellow Kolkata taxi and head to KC Das for a famous rasgulla—a syrupy, cheese-filled dumpling that’s a must-try in the city. Afterward, I wander down a small alleyway and discover a shop selling kathi rolls. I chat with locals as I devour a chicken and egg roll, wrapping up my street food journey in true Kolkata style. I was wandering the busy streets of Kolkata in West Bengal when I found a vendor selling pani puri, or 'phuchka' as it's better known in this city. At only 20 rupees for 6 pieces, it was a bargain.
